Rectangular shape with rounded corners, the shape that is most used and recognised as a 'Sussex Trug'. The traditional shape for farmers and gardeners. Often used as measures in the past, the smallest holds one Imperial Pint and the largest a Bushel (eight Imperial Gallons).

The No.6 is our most popular trug. For gardening use we recommend a No.5, No.6 (most popular!) or No.7 for the more serious gardener. No.3 and below tend to be more decorative.

No. 8 Half Bushel (66 x 36 cm, 26" x 14")

A really serious trug. It has straps instead of feet for extra weight bearing. This trug will happily lug spuds all day for decades.  Unencumbered by feet it is shaped to fit the mouth of a sack when tipping out produce or when used as a scoop. Traditionally used by farmers and market gardeners. This trug is a workaholic.

No. 10 (Full Bushel) (76 x 41 cm, 30" x 16")

You need to be strong to lift this one full of spuds! Rarely made these days.

Sweet Chestnut and Cricket Bat Willow, locally and sustainably sourced.
Care

Empty out weeds, damp soil and materials after use; store in a dry, airy place.

Once a year, rub some of our raw linseed oil which helps prevent drying, adds protection, and can even improve water resistance.
